Thirty-four years of trust

For decades, he was the person on the other side of the desk.

John joined The Tax Shelter in 1992, and for thirty-four years he earned the trust of hundreds of clients through his knowledge, his honesty, and his willingness to help — with a tax return, with a hard decision, or with whatever life happened to bring through the door.

He was endlessly curious. A conversation with John could wander from tax law to golf technique, from history to the latest technology, and he believed there was always something new to learn. Clients came to him for answers and stayed for the way he gave them — with a sharp mind, a dry sense of humor, and a genuine interest in the person sitting across from him.

Above all, John was a man of deep faith and devoted family — a loving husband to Lori for thirty-nine years, a proud father of six sons, and a grandfather who lit up at the mention of his grandchildren. The same loyalty he gave his family, he gave this firm and the people it serves.

May his memory be a blessing.

“To many, he was far more than an accountant — he was a trusted advisor, problem solver, and steady presence who genuinely cared about the people he served.”
A note to our clients

Our firm is grieving, and our firm is steady. Every return John was handling is in the hands of our team, and every deadline will be met. If you worked with John over the years, we will be reaching out to you personally — and in the meantime, our door is open, as it has been for more than fifty years.
